Railway NFR Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2024

The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) invites dynamic and eligible candidates to apply for the Apprentice Recruitment 2024. Below are the detailed eligibility criteria, to ensure that the selection process is both fair and comprehensive, giving every aspirant a chance to excel in their chosen trade.

Age Limit-

• Minimum Age – 15 years
• Maximum Age – 24 years as of the closing date (03.12.2024)

Important Age Relaxation for Specific Categories

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• PwBD: 10 years
• Ex-Servicemen (ExSM): 10 additional years, with a maximum age limit extension based on the length of service in the Armed Forces, plus 3 years, provided the candidate has completed a minimum of 6 months of continuous service.

Educational Qualifications-

• For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) & Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology) – Class 12th (under the 10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and a minimum of 50% marks.
• For All Other Apprentice Categories – Must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or its equivalent under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized board. Candidates from SC/ST/PwBD categories are exempted from the 50% aggregate marks criteria in Matriculation.

Trade Requirement- 

A valid National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the relevant trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), or a Provisional Certificate issued by the NCVT or State Council for Vocational Training.

Note – Completing the course alone is not sufficient. Candidates must have the prescribed qualifications and their ITI pass certificate/NTC/STC as of the date of this notification. RRC NFR Apprentice Selection Process

To ensure a fair and transparent assessment of candidates base on their academic merits and qualifications, the selection process for North Frontier Railway (NFR) Apprentice Recruitment 2024 is done by Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC). The recruitment follows a well-defined methodology to select apprentices for various trades across multiple units.

Merit Based Selection

• Candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their 10th grade (Matriculation) exam.
• The marks obtained in the ITI trade or related certification will be considered for trade-specific apprenticeships.
• Matriculation Marks (with a minimum of 50% aggregate) and 12th Science Marks (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) are require in case of Medical Laboratory Technicians.

Tie-Breaking Rule

What if two or more candidates have equal marks? RRC Tie-Breaking Rule is introduced in these types of cases. The two important points for this are given below.

• The older candidate (age-wise).
• If the dates of birth are the same, the candidate who pass the matriculation exam earlieris rank higher.

Unit, Trade, and Community Wise Merit List

The final merit list is introduced unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise, prepared in descending order of marks. The number of candidates enlisted will be equal to the number of vacancies in each trade and unit, ensuring that all openings are filled according to merit.

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates, 1.5 times the number of notified vacancies, will be called for document verification. During certificate verification, one has to produce

Final Selection

Once the certificate verification is completed, the final selection is based on the merit list and verification of all documents and medical certificates.
